Project Description:

This project involved a refurbishment and upgrade to the existing two storey building as well as the addition of a new five storey building. The development is situated on the existing site with the newly amalgamated 2 allotments facing both Upper Roma Street & Quay Street, Brisbane. The new Quay Street building was designed to have the administration offices, storage, boardroom, kitchen, dining, internet room, some accommodation and reception on the ground level, with the upper levels housing group accommodation, laundry and a common area. The outdoor entertainment area, pool, deck, TV/games room, internet room and resident’s kitchen, dining and common rooms are situated on level five.

The building facing Upper Roma Street was designed to house a kitchen, dining, lounge and internet room with the top level being accommodation only. A total of 304 beds were planned within the new development with the common facilities of reception and entry included in the upgrade together with café facilities to bring this hostel into a modern and up market facility.
