Project: Foy Residence, Indooroopilly Project Description: This renovated queenslander with a new extension was designed to make the most of breezes and natural light, with half window hoods, reverse blockwork and skylights. The shape of the extension mirrored that of the old house.The kitchen formed a common area connecting the two structures.Ideas of dual occupancy were adopted in the design to allow for the future adaptations and the changing needs of the family. Both houses could be completely stand alone residences if needed. The design introduced different construction ideas such as reverse blockwork, which has a fantastic aesthetic appeal internally and also provides thermal mass. This means a 5C° temperature difference between inside and out can be achieved. Other environmental initiatives include:
