Environmental
TVS and E.S.D (Ecologically Sustainable Development)TVS has distinguished itself within Queensland as a leader in the field of Environmental Architecture. Having developed the E.S.D Office Fitout Guidelines for the Queensland Department of Public Works, TVS has also been instrumental in promoting sustainable design practices through its seven stages of sustainable design. The Queensland EPA has featured our work in a 10-minute video promoting E.S.D, which was distributed to all local authorities throughout Queensland. Our success in this field is attributed to our practical approach to implementing E.S.D using cost effective processes and practices. We promote the Environmental Brief process co-developed with the Department at the University of Queensland as a useful starting point for addressing the complexities of the topic.
The Environmental Consultant Role
Recently TVS has been commissioned to act in a over viewing and supervisory role on major projects as an E.S.D or environmental consultant. Our role enables us to work with a project design team to maximize cost efficient ESD project opportunities ensuring that the clients ESD goals are adequately addressed. We undertake investigative site work to establish project workshops and brainstorming sessions to educate and facilitate ESD opportunities for a project. Working with specialist energy consultants we address the four key issues of ESD being energy water material and community issues. Our role usually involves reviewing project documentation and liaison with interested environmental groups to discuss project opportunities.
Successful projects using this approach include:
• Defence Intelligence Training Centre (DintTc) Canungra
• Defence AFW-IC Williamtown
• Gold Coast City Council Office Refurbishment and Civic Focus building
• Blue Care Salun Park and Carramer – Redevelopment Project
• St Aidens Science Centre
