Explorers Inn Melbourne
This 200 room hotel dates back to the 1880’s.
Challenge
The ground floor needed a total rebuild to make the hotel more workable, commercially viable and visually inviting. The hotel had to remain open for business and the budget was very tight.
Solutions
23 new rooms were created out of a poorly utilised dining area at the rear.
A new café style entry and bar across the street frontage gave the hotel a fresh and lively new image.
The maritime links of the past were used to theme a large mural and smaller pieces of artwork throughout the ground floor.
Carefully staging of the work allowed the hotel to function with minimal disruption.
The facade was given a new look with a budget conscious but inventive paint work solution.
