Peter Sheehy Solicitors Fitout
Brief:
The client relocated to the adjacent tenancy after 6 years in the
existing. The new space was small, only 93 m 2. This included a
large central column, only one window opening & restricted
clearances above the ceiling which would make it difficult to position
recessed lights.
The client wanted a contemporary office fitout that still identified
with characteristics of a classical law firm. An existing piece
of artwork was to be incorporated into the waiting area.
The fit out had to be smartly compact with plenty of clear work space in the reception area.
- Areas to be included in the fitout:
- Dry kitchen,
- Accessible storage area
- Conference room to seat six (6),
- Waiting area to seat two (2)
- Utility area
- Archive room,
- Two (2) Offices & two (2) Workstations
- New signage
Location:
Level 24, 239 George St, Brisbane, Queensland
Ambition:
- To make the space appear as large as possible and still be able
to fit in all the client’s requests. The design was to look
sharp, contemporary and minimal, hiding as much clutter as possible.
- The new signage was not to compete with the simplicity of the interior design.
- The artwork and the standard carpet specified were to form the basis of the colour pallet.
- To work in with the restricted area around the column and make it a key feature rather than a hindrance.
Solution:
- The reception desk & walls were cleverly angled around the
column to give the illusion of space & length with the hallway
stretching right down to the only window opening.
- The accessible storage area was positioned behind the reception
area and offered a walkthrough shelved area for long and short term
filing.
- The column became a focal point of the design with a personally
custom designed light fitting that was mounted on the column and
improved the level of task lighting for the receptionist.
- Pendant fluorescent light fittings were installed down the hallway due to the location of the concrete beams above.
- The signage was discretely designed so that there was as much visibility through the glass frontage as possible.
Outcome:
The client was very pleased with the design. Our custom designed
wall light became apart of the lighting manufactures standard and named
the “DEEBEE wall light”.
This fitout has inspired other tenants in the same building to
refurbish their tenancies. It goes to show that a small tenancy
does not have to reflect a small image.
